Catch, Clean, Skin, and Cook Dogfish - Rock and Chips

Dogfish, a member of the small shark family, are probably not high on the list of desirable fish to catch but if you like eating fish they do make a tasty meal provided you know how to deal with them.


In the video below, I set out to target Dogfish (Lesser Spotted Dogfish) for a catch and cook video, and show how to prepare the fish. I cook a homemade version of a fish and chip shop favourite Rock and Chips. Bon Appétit!

Kayak Fishing - Fishing with Bait and Lures - Mackerel, Squid, Thornback Rays, and More

In the video below, I set out on the kayak for a mixed species trip combining fishing at anchor with drift fishing using a mix of bait and lures.
 

 
The species caught include Mackerel, Thornback Rays, some good Squid, and more.

Shore Fishing - Awesome Way to Fish for Sea Bass - Bubble Float - Shrimp/Prawn

Bubble float fishing in shallow water with live shrimp or prawn is an awesome deadly way to fish for Sea Bass.
 

 
In the video below, I look at reasons to use the bubble float, the types of floats, and the set up, and show the method working in a session where I catch sixteen Bass in 4 hours fishing. In addition, there are other tips and pointers such as unhooking a deep hooked fish and handling Bass.

Ultra Light (LRF) Rock and Rock Pool Lure Fishing Fun

Ultra light tackle fishing otherwise known as LRF (light rock fishing) targeting mainly mini species with small hooks and lures but also catching larger fish, has become popular in recent years.


In the video below, I first head out onto the rocks to catch whatever I can, then fish a rock pool for mini rock pool species such as Gobies and catch a sought after and rare Giant Goby with underwater footage.

Q&A: How Do You Load Your Fishing Kayak On Your Car Roof?

A question I am often asked is how I load my fishing kayak on the car roof rack. Understandable as they can be heavy and awkward.


Although there are kayak loaders on the market to help, the method I use is a D.I.Y method that works with my car and below is a video on how I do it to answer that question.

One of the challenges when fishing a large reef for Pollack is finding the fish as they are not always all over the reef and move around.

Rig Making - Cod or Pollack Lure Fishing Teaser Rig

When kayak lure fishing using methods such as vertical jigging, adding a teaser to the rig can greatly enhance your chances of catching fish. Apart from the teaser being an added attraction, it enables you to try different lures on the same rig.


In the video below, I go through setting up the teaser rig for Cod or Pollack using the drop shot method of tying the teaser.

Kayak Fishing - Targeting Bigger Winter Mackerel With Jigs

The winter in Cornwall can offer some great Mackerel fishing and a good chance of catching some bigger than average sized fish.
